I hadn't ever watched jojo before, but i was familiar with the concept of stands, so when i fought pontiff sulyvahn for the first time, it did stand out to if there was another reference to jojo's bizarre adventure in the dark souls universe, i think that'd go a long way to showing sulyvahn's stand might.
